Capacity Building

One of BALANCED key strategies for advancing and supporting the wider use of PHE approaches is building the capacity of institutions, PHE practitioners, leaders and community members to plan, implement and carry out demand-driven integrated programs in health and conservation.

To this end, BALANCED identifies organizations that are already implementing PHE activities as well as those that are new to and interested in implementing PHE and offers them capacity building opportunities. These can include:

  • Participation in PHE Program Design workshops
  • Mentoring on how to develop/adapt PHE-centered community-based distribution systems
  • Technical support on developing integrated PHE information, education, and communication (IEC) materials
  • Peer-to-peer counseling on monitoring and evaluation and on the challenges faced when trying to implement across the population, health and environment sectors
